Une mouche pète et le chien aboie !!
Le chien a des raisons pour aboyer, certaines sont valables, d'autres pas.
Voici comment le faire taire dans tous les cas.

Méthode positive, au choix :

1. Quand votre chien aboe, proposez-lui une friandise : là, s'il choisit la friandise, il se tait (et est donc récompensé pour cela et non pour avoir aboyé.
S'il préfère continuer à aboyer, il n'obtient bien évidemment pas la friandise.

2. Jouez l'indifférence et l'extinction : le chien aboie, vous ne l'entendez pas ou du moins faites comme si vous ne l'entendiez pas. C'est très efficace, notamment pour les sonnettes d'entrée. Faites sonner un complice et ne réagissez pas. Le chien se lève, aboie, se précipite, revient vous chercher puis s'arrête surpris et désorienté de votre non-réaction.

Méthode traditionnelle :

Le chien aboie souvent pour prévenir ou pour se donner du courage. Le téléphone sonne, la sonnette retentit, le facteur se sauve ...
Commencez toujours par le féliciter, (après tout, il fait son travail de gardien). Il faudra pourtant songer à le faire taire, l'excès de zèle peut rapidement devenir insupportable. Pour cela vous utiliserez toujours le même commandement : Silence !
Vous n'aurez pas à le précéder du nom du chien, mais devrez toujours y associer une stimulation.
La plus efficace est ce que vous avez sur la main : clefs, stylos, pantoufles ... n'importe quoi (ou presque ! ) fera l'affaire. Pas besoin d'être bon tireur, vous n'avez pas à atteindre le chien, il suffit de le surprendre pour qu'il se taise.
L'association de cette stimulation au commandement "Silence !" suivi des félicitations indispensables lorsqu'il se sera tu, vous permettront d'obtenir que votre chien se taise lorsque vous l'ordonnerez.

Le cas se complique si le chien aboie en votre absence, occasionnant des troubles à votre voisinage.
La muselière est assez efficace mais tellement rébarbative, voire dangereuse en été (elle empêche le chien de haleter, seul moyen pour lui de réguler sa température intérieure), vous devez la proscrire.
Les colliers à la citronnelle utilisés seuls ont un taux de réussite ( et un rapport qualité-prix) très moyen. Les colliers électriques sont les plus efficaces ... Question d'éthique !

L'aboiement est un des "langages" du chien. Si vous répondez, vous engagez le dialogue. Lorsque vous vous énervez et que vous criez, vous l'incitez à une "dispute verbale" ou à un jeu : qui aura le plus de voix ? Parfois et même souvent, l'indifférence est préférable à une longue discussion !

Positive method, in the choice:

The most effective are what you have on the hand: keys, pens, slippers anything (or almost!) will make the affair. Not need to be good marksman, you don't have to reach the dog, it's enough to surprise him so that it keeps silent.

The case complicates if the dog barks in your absence, causing confusions to your neighborhood.
The muzzle is rather effective but so repulsive, even dangerous in summer (it prevents the dog from panting, only average for him to regulate his internal temperature), you have to ban it.
Collars in the citronella used only have a rate of success (and a value for money) pretty poor. The electric collars are the most effective... Ethics question !

Autres solutions

Une radio allumée ou un os à ronger peuvent détourner son anxiété et stopper ses talents d'aboyeur, à condition de ne pas lui laisser son os ni d'allumer la radio à l'instant ou vous partez. Il les associerait à votre départ, prenez donc ces dispositions plusieurs dizaines de minutes avant de partir. Un vêtement avec votre odeur peut également le tranquilliser.
Assez efficace, pour ne pas avoir à l'employer très longtemps, la méthode "dite de la douche" consiste à vous acheter un pistolet à eau et à arroser le chien dès qu'il commence à aboyer. Economique et efficace, que demander de plus ? On peut encore l'améliorer en ajoutant un peu de citron ou de vinaigre à l'eau.

Aboie !

Le chien qui aboie sur commande ! Ce commandement est utilisé dans le dressage des chiens de recherche et permet justement de limiter l'aboiement du chien à des situations précises. Profitez du moment où il aboie, par exemple parce que l'on sonne à la porte ou attachez-le à quelque chose de solide, puis narguez-le avec un bout de fromage et laissez-le d'énerver. Après quelques secondes, il aboie. Vous l'encouragerez alors à recommencer mais en lui intimant l'ordre : "Aboie" ou "Parle" et lui donnez la friandise dès qu'il s'est exécuté.
Recommencez plusieurs fois de suite, il aboie maintenant sur commande.
Terminez l'exercice en le reprenant au début mais en lui offrant la friandise lorsqu'il aura successivement et correctement exécuté les commandements "Aboie" puis "Silence" . Vous voilà l'heureux propriétaire d'un chien qui "parle" mais surtout se tait sur commande !

You will encourage him then to begin again but by ordering him the order: "bark" or "Speaks" and give him the candy as soon as he complied.
Begin again several times in succession, he barks now to order.
End the exercise by resuming it at the beginning but by offering him the candy when he'll have successively and correctly executed commands "Barks" then "Silence". You are the happy owner of a dog which "speaks" but especially keeps silent to order!
